TUTORIAL
I began teaching the year I graduated from Bryn Mawr College in 1980, and my involvement in education has
been uninterrupted for 30 years.  While my professional experiences have spanned the spectrum, from
administrator to coach, I have always been a teacher, either in the classroom or via tutorial, and over the years,
I have prided myself on being able to reach both  the high school junior whose anxiety about writing nearly
paralyzes him and the grade 8 student who dances through an honors Pre-calculus course.

My 30 years in education exposed me to a striking curricular array, so as a result, I feel comfortable teaching a
breadth of material and skills, including:

1.  all of the curricular content associated with Middle School;
2.  all of the curricular content associated with English, history, and mathematics;
3.  writing skills;
4.  research skills;
5.  lab-writing skills;
6.  grammar; and
7.  organizational skills.

My other qualities include an:

1.  ability to interact effectively with a wide array of children;
2.  ability to inspire confidence;
3.  ability to assess your child's unique strengths/weaknesses;
4.  eagerness to communicate with parents as need arises; and
5.  an ability to tutor long-distance via SKYPE, a free computer service.

I would be happy to discuss with you the specifics of my tutorial approach and program.  Please feel free to

"I was amazed by how quickly Martha cut to the core of my children's difficulties in mathematics.
An hour with her cleared up a week of confusion.
She has a wonderful way of connecting with children, making learning fun,
and adjusting her teaching style to their different personalities and needs.
I also found Martha to be a great academic advisor to me in many educational areas,
including high school and college searches."
