SSAT & ISEE PREPARATION
Many years ago I developed a comprehensive SSAT/ISEE program to help students master the SSAT/ISEE.
The design is so well-known in the area that it has become a model for other tutors.  The approach includes
typical tutorial operations for standardized tests, such as vocabulary memorization and content drill.  I was
the first in the area, however, to include an extensive roots unit.  As an author, I have always been intrigued
by words, and my interest only grew when I realized the connection between English and our linguistic
foundations.  The roots element, when administered properly, allows students to increase their vocabulary
exponentially, as they are able to dissect words that otherwise would have been unrecognizable.

Finally, strategic approaches to standardized tests are perhaps as important as content mastery.  As a result,
each session includes guidance about matters such as:  when to guess; when to skip; how to narrow down
options; how to tackle a reading passage; how to use the answers to get the answer, etc.

The following elements distinguish my program from other programs:

1.  the breadth of test-taking strategies;
2.  my ability to tailor the strategies to each child's needs;
3.  my ability to execute all curricular elements of the test;
4.  the demanding yet flexible teacher-student interaction;
5.  the non-negotiable standards for staying in the course; and
6.  the indisputable evidence of success, as seen below in a modest sampling of independent school norms:

Quantitative:  3% - 59%
Quantitative:  88% - 99%
Reading:  17% - 66%
Reading:  33% to 78%
Verbal:  9% - 62%
Verbal:  87% - 99%
